Calling all cozy travelers and miniature lovers. As someone who has always been drawn to tiny worlds, I created a visual Google Map featuring miniature-focused destinations from around the world.
This curated list includes a mix of places I’ve personally visited, along with hidden gems I’ve discovered through research. This guide is specifically focused on miniature artistry and dollhouse-style displays, not tabletop gaming miniatures or model train sets.
Use this custom Google map to explore miniature museums, model villages, and tiny worlds across Europe, Japan, the United States, and beyond. Save it for your future travels and start building your own tiny-world itinerary.
Explore the Map

During my research, I noticed that most miniature travel destinations fall into four main categories:
Tourist Attractions
These are often outdoor miniature displays or walk-through experiences. While similar to museums, they typically don’t include detailed informational placards and are designed more as immersive attractions. One particular attraction that I haven’t tried, but am really interested in, is the miniature real life cooking experience in Thailand (Le Petit Restaurant at The Racquet Club). Imagine eating miniature popular Thai dishes 😋.
Specialty Stores
Shops dedicated to miniatures, dollhouses, and crafting supplies. Many of these are destinations in themselves for collectors and enthusiasts. Maybe even find country-specific pieces as a souvenir.
Museums
Indoor spaces where miniatures are carefully preserved, often displayed behind glass, and curated with detailed exhibits.
Theme Parks
Large-scale miniature parks featuring famous landmarks from around the world recreated in miniature form. Many countries have their own version of these.

Personal Experiences & Recommendations

Here are a few highlights from places I’ve personally visited, to give you a glimpse of what you can expect:
Small Worlds Miniature Museum @ Tokyo, Japan
This museum was much larger than I expected, filled with expansive, highly detailed dioramas. One of the standout areas was the airport scene, where planes appear to take off in real time. The Gundam section was another highlight. You can even create a miniature figurine of yourself through a full-body scan, which makes for a unique souvenir.
The Model Village @ Bourton-on-the-Water, United Kingdom
An outdoor miniature version of the town itself, located in the picturesque Cotswolds. Seeing a scaled-down version of such a charming village adds an extra layer of whimsy to the experience.
Queen Mary's Dolls' House @ Windsor Castle, United Kingdom
One of the most detailed dollhouses in the world. Literally built for royalty, this miniature home includes astonishing features like running water and electricity. The craftsmanship is on an entirely different level.
Travel Product Recommendations for Miniature Lovers
If you plan to travel with miniatures or delicate items, having the right storage is essential. Look for:
Hard-shell, crush-proof cases
Adjustable compartment organizers
Compact storage solutions for small-scale items
Affordable options can often be found at stores like Daiso, as well as online organizers designed for electronics or craft supplies. Here are some example items from Amazon:
Ongoing Updates
I’ll continue updating this map as I travel and discover more miniature destinations. If the list grows significantly, I may eventually break it down into separate maps by country.
Save this map to revisit later and use it as inspiration for future travels 😊 .
