I finally decided to buy The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack, once it went on sale (who doesn’t love waiting to buy things once they’re on sale?). I have been hoping for this type of expansion pack since we got the Vampires game pack, and now we finally have a fairy one, and in an expansion pack too!
In this review, I will be going over the main features of the game and then rating it. But before we step into the fairy ring, a quick note:
👉 You must own the base game, The Sims 4, to play this expansion since it is an add-on pack and not a standalone game. The good news is that The Sims 4 is free to play. You only need to purchase the expansion pack.

First Impressions: A Cozy Cottagecore Fantasy
Enchanted by Nature leans heavily into fairycore and cottagecore aesthetics, introducing a more nature-centered and magic lifestyle. The expansion also brings back fairies as a playable sim (they were last seen in The Sims 3). This time, they come with physical customization, unique powers, needs, and progression.
Character Creation (CAS): Build Your Fairy
Create-a-Sim introduces the Fairy as a new occult Sim type. Along with a new aspiration called Fairy Stories, which focuses on living your best fairy life.
A couple of new traits are introduced. One standout is Mystical, which reflects a Sim’s connection to nature and the supernatural. This helps them build relationships with occult Sims and learn related skills faster.

New Physical Features:
Wings with over 20 types and full color customization. You can even add tattoo-like stamps or draw details on them, but only to the back side of the wings.
Pointy ears with multiple options for subtle or dramatic looks
Tattoos with nature-inspired designs, including glowing body wraps
Teeth that can become sharp, more like piranha teeth than vampire fangs
Eyes with glowing or multi-colored options
Expanded skin tones, including beautiful purples and greens
Hairstyles, including one that looks like shimmering tinsel
You can fully design your fairy identity, or use the preset faces available if you prefer a quicker setup. One thing to note is that you must switch to fairy form for certain features to show, like wings, fairy ears, and special skin tones. (Fairy Sims have two forms to switch between: fairy and regular Sim)

New Clothing Features:
There are many new clothing and accessory options. My favorites include:
Headpieces like flower crowns and horns
Jewelry, especially the rhinestone body jewel necklace
Arm sleeves and stockings that have this sheer Art Nouveau style to them
Build and Buy Mode
This was the area I was most excited about. The catalog is very whimsical cottagecore. It feels like a blend of the expansion packs, Realm of Magic and Cottage Living. One being art nouveau influenced, and the other rustic country living.
Some stand-out pieces

Live houseplants that fairies can enchant to take care of themselves. You can even name them like your own pet plants at home.
Magical plants that allow you to extract emotion potions
Apothecary table and shelf for crafting cures
Nature-inspired decor like tree bookshelves, leaf rugs, and a nature press that lets you customize candles and wall art
Cottagecore build items, such as moss wallpaper, stone walls, and intricate sylvan door designs
Miscellaneous Decor items like the acorn chibi and Gnomedalf! These gnomes can come alive with fairy dust and help you with home upkeep, though they can also turn evil if you’re not careful. 😎

Fairy Home
A very important new item in the catalog is The Fairy House.
Features include:
Hosting whimsical dance parties
Generating fairy dust
Restoring emotional force, which is the main need for fairies
Place to sleep
This quickly became where my fairies preferred to sleep, too. I even removed some beds because they kept choosing this instead.

Innisgreen: Fairies Home World
Innisgreen is a lush, what looks to be a Celtic-inspired world with a seaside cottage village and enchanted forests. You will find fields of flowers, moss-covered areas, a fairy ring, transporter stones, a giant gnome statue, and even a pirate ship. The ambience is very magical too, you see butterflies, fireflies at night, mushrooms, and the flower fields seem to be twinkling.
The shore looks just like the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland and the hedge reminds me of Celtic motifs.
Locals
Spruce Almighty
A mysterious nature entity tied to the world’s magic and lore. You can summon him from a tree, ask for a fable, and solve riddles to earn rewards.
Mother Nature
A powerful figure who offers guidance and lore connected to the land. She can help you become a fairy or return to a regular Sim. You summon her by planting a fairy seedling.
Fairy Gameplay
Choose Your Path
As you progress through the Fairy Stories aspiration, you choose between:
Harmonious Fairy, focused on healing and balance
Discordant Fairy, focused on chaos and mischief
This adds replay value and storytelling depth.

Fairy Progression
Fairies evolve over time, starting at Faint and growing into their Radiant form. There is also a skill tree mechanic to it. The ability tree has skill branches such as Manipulation, Emotion, Nature, and Passive skills. At higher ability levels, you unlock advanced abilities like turning other Sims into fairies or aging them up.

Emotional Force Need
Instead of traditional needs, fairies rely on Emotional Force. This can be:
Absorbed from other Sims
Restored through fairy homes
*After becoming a teenager, fairies no longer have hunger or bladder needs.
If Emotional Force is completely depleted or overloaded, it can lead to death. The lunar cycle also affects this system. For example, during a new moon, Emotional Force depletes more quickly.
World Gameplay
Magical Interactions
Fairy dust can enchant objects and bring gnomes to life.
You can interact with nature in deeper ways, including talking to mushrooms that give riddles.
Encounter blessings and unusual magical effects, like using a teleportation stone to a hidden forest.
Forage for flowers and other apothecary ingredients

New Skills: Apothecary and Natural Living
These new skills continue to expand the packs’ theme of natural living and herbal magic.
Apothecary
Craft elixirs
Cure ailments
Natural Living - live off the land
Eat frogs
Summon a privy bush (a toilet)
Meditate in nature
Rating
Pros
Beautiful, whimsical cottagecore world in Innisgreen
Strong fairy customization options
Cute magical elements like animated gnomes and your fairy being able to shrink and play in the dollhouses or splash around in the sinks.
Excellent nature-based build and buy items. The fairy house is especially adorable.
Cons
Missing themed music. Something like a fantasy tavern genre option when using the radio would improve immersion. I end up only keeping either the classical or nature soundscapes on because something like rock music messes with the aesthetic.
Emotional Force requires more active management compared to other needs. Which is only important if you’re trying to play this as a background activity.
Occasional visual glitches where wings disappear
Final Verdict: 9 out of 10
As a cozy game, it works well, but as a cottagecore game, it stands out. It offers great visuals, no high stakes, relaxing, and easy to play. This is also one of the best fantasy cottagecore experiences in gaming. I enjoy seeing a home full of fairies flying around, hosting fairy house parties, and leaving trails of fairy dust. As a cottagecore lover, I like home decorating with the new catalog and letting the game run in the background while I study or craft.
In the end, Enchanted by Nature feels like stepping into a magic storybook, and it offers a peaceful cottage living escape. I enjoyed the customization so much that I even recreated the Neopet Fairies in the game. In my opinion, this is the best Sims game expansion pack today.
